The stone idol of Lord Khandoba is located in the sanctuary of the temple. The idols of Lord Sai Baba and Lord Mahalsapati were also engraved in honor of Lord Baba’s arrival in Shirdi. A rectangular bunker is located in front of Khandoba Temple for early fire walking. This tradition has now stopped. Even during the annual festival of Champa Shashti, devotees will take hot coal in the company of bhajans.

It is believed that Sai Baba came to Shirdi for the second time with a marriage party and placed his feet under the banyan tree. The priest named Mahalsapati first discovered the nameless liar and welcomed him to Shirdi by saying 'Aao Sai', meaning 'welcome' in Marathi.
